Total Security 2009 Descriptions:

Total Security 2009, also known as Total Security or TotalSecurity2009, is the latest fake anti-spyware software that created to damage the Internet community. Presumably, Total Security 2009 is a new verion of System Security – different interface, different name but same type of destruction that brings to the innocence. Nevertheless, do not confuse Total Security 2009 (fake softeware) to BitDefender’s Total Security software which is a legit application. This fake Total Security 2009 is just created to confuse us. Just like most fake antispywares, Total Security 2009 issues misleading and exaggerated results. Total Security 2009 usually installed itself onto your PC without your permission, through Vundo Trojan, Virus or fake software. Total Security 2009 will display fake Total alerts or fake security alerts to trick user to buy the paid version of Total Security 2009, in order to remove the potential and reported problems. Not only does it cause your machine to slow down dramatically, it would also put your privacy and data in risk.

Before using our removal instructions to remove Total Security or Total Security 2009, please make sure to back up all of your important data first. Good luck!

If anyone needs to remove this BS just hold delete when you restart your computer and go to safe mode. Then choose no when it ask you to start it in safe mode. No will let you pick a system restore point. It should work fine if you pick a restore point from about a week before the program installed itself on your computer.
I hope this helps someone because it drove me crazy until I got rid of it.
    Good Luck!

I got infected with totalsecurity, I tried almost everything but nothing is working. My computer cannot execute anything, even the task manager tip (by pressing ctrl+alt+ delete). when I try it, nothing appears on the screen. So I downloaded a lot of programs like spyware fighter etc… and I can’t even install it or execute it…. someone please help me. Thanks

hey i had the same exact problem and wasn’t able to access anything or run programs even task manager. I found that if you restart the computer there is a one minute period before total security takes over, during this time if you quickly open task manager go to the processes tab and click the image name button so that it displays them in alphabetical order. On the very top of that list is a process that is purely number like 22342234.exe (thats not actually the number just and example) click that and hit the end process button and it should disable the virus and allow you run a virus scanner or do whatever. Hope this works and wasn’t just a fluke for me

Total Security 2009 is a powerful spyware. From my understanding, it can easily wipe out all the system restore point history as well as disabling most anti-virus or anti-spyware software. Personally, I would reload the OS from scratch to get a clean system. I hate to leave any traces of the spyware in my computer.

Heres how to get rid of TotalSecurity 2009….
This is easiest way cos it wont let you run any programs.. and normally knacks your system restore……

Run your PC in Normal or Safe Mode…..

Go To C:/Windows select the system32 folder..
In there u will see TASKMGR.EXE…. right click this file and rename it IEXPLORE.EXE…

Then when you doucle click on IEXPLORE.EXE in system32 folder afterwards.. totalsecurity will let it run thinking its explorer…

The Task manager will then start.. you can then kill the task of TotalSecurity there… once you have successfully killed the program running..

Just install a decent AntiSpyware program, scan and rid it…. Simple As..

    Hope This Helps

The easiest way tog get rid of Total Security is to go to to Accessories and then to “System Tool” after that you choose “System Restore”. Then you choose the date before you got Total Security ( calender will pop up=. And the then click next till computer restarts itself.
If i can do it so can u.

MFU’s response worked for me (so far, so good). I went into safe mode and then worked my way to restoring to a previous date, then downloaded spyware doctor and norton security scan from pctools.com (free). Am in midst of downloading, hopefully one or the other of these will find and remove the (expletive deleted) ‘total security’. I am so glad I found this site and MFU’s option. Thanks.

  21. By DW on Aug 22, 2009 | Reply

I couldn’t find ANY of the file names listed above after I got infected with Total Security. I have McAfee through my ISP, but it wasn’t running. However, Total Security deposited a short cut on my desktop that contained the .exe file location. It was in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Applications and Data and the folder name was something like 1109084, and the executable also had the same name. I started Windows in Safe Mode with Networking enabled, deleted the folder, and allowed McAfee to run. McAfee found a large number of dll’s that it removed, but again NONE of them are in the list above.

Had this B*stard of an infection on my computer.
Took me ages to shift it. The only software that seems to have any chance of getting rid is Malwarebytes. Of course TotSec had disabled it so I then had to rename it (Malwarebytes) to BOB.com in Programme Files directory to get it to run. This was all done in Safe Mode (i.e. switch on computer and press F4 shortly after starting). malwarebytes then did a Scan and picked up god knows how many infectons/trojans etc. Coputer seems o.k so far !!!

You guys are all posting solutions on how to get to task manager, but nothing on how to delete it.

Yes, all my restore dates seems to be wiped out. I was using a solid antivirus software (Avast) when I got the Total Security. I’ve tried removing, and reinstalling. I’ve tried using other antivirus softwares also. Nothing will run.

I can’t get rid of it.

  33. By Master Moron on Aug 30, 2009 | Reply

I agree with Corey. When you start up the computer if you hit control, alt, delete as soon as it starts it will sometimes open up task manager before Total Security blocks it. However, I didn’t see anything under the Processes tab that fit the descriptions that people were giving me. I instead went under the Applications tab where I saw Total Security running and I could close it from there.

  42. By Chris on Sep 9, 2009 | Reply

You can actually bring up task manager before the point when Total security Launches and if you are quick you can quit the process (TSC.exe).

This makes the need to download anything like Process Explorer to quit it unnecessary. This App blocks most things and it would prove difficult to get a piece of software on without second computer.

Then you can download Malwarebytes and do a clean and remove the app with minimum fuss.

    Hope this helps

You can download it for free to run a scan but have to purchase to remove the junk. It was the BEST $29.00 I have ever spent!!! AND NO I have NO affiliation with the company. THIS IS NO BS…..PLEASE TRY IT…IT WORKS. Ran mine twice to remove some traces the second time but it listed LOADS and LOADS of stuff the 1st time.

That crap self installed itself today and per suggested from users, I rebooted in safemode, selected a previous restore point ant it seemed to have gotten rid of TS2009.

Then proceeded to download spybot, ran it, found another lovely trojan named virtumonde.sdn which I also had to get rid of.

Puter is now running fine but in case of future infection, I am reinstalling Start up Monitor, a freeware that lets you know the instant that something wants to install itself on the computer and run at start up!

Peace and thank you all for the suggestions and help on how to deal with TS2009.

A quick way to access the task manager is to go to C:\program files\windows\system32 and search for “taskmgr.exe”. Rename the file as “iexplore.exe” and total security 2009 will fail to recognize it. End the appropriate processes (usually the one comprised solely of numbers) and it will afford you a few hours to try and clear it off. Unfortunately, the darn virus keeps reviving itself about every 20 hrs or so. Anyone know a good program to eliminate it for good?

My husband’s computer got the %^#&*@! Total Security yesterday. I, too, worked a long time to try a rid us of it. I eventually used the iexplore.exe + malwarebyte’s anti malware program and it got rid of it – for a half a day. Tonight, it reappeared. I repeated the iexplore.exe + anti-malware process and it appears to be gone. Has this happened to anyone else???

I also found that TotalSecurity 4.5, which is what I had, put in four .exe files in c:\Windows\system32 that were found by malwarebytes but were not in the above lists. I don’t know if they are random and vary from infection to infection or are the same. Here are the files:
    dokakuru.exe
    yubuguyi.exe
    suteniro.exe
    hidagipe.exe

if you dont have a system restore point, do the following.
    1. open task manager
    2. process tab
    3. find tcs.exe and end the process
    4. open reg edit (registery editor)
    5. look wherever on this page and it tell’s you the location’s on where to find the problem to remove.
    6. click edit at top and click find.
    7. paste the path’s at top in the find search area and click search/find whatever.
    8. when it find’s the problem delete it.

(Note) this is better done in safe-mode incase you accidentally delete the wrong thing’s from reg-edit.

    Hope this is helpfull.

But for me it just happened now, I had trouble finding how to delete it cause it kept telling me this page was blocked for threat’s or whatever, so i got annoyied and luckily enough it let me do system restore.

If you don’t have a system restore point, then you can make one, all computer’s should have a restore point unless it was unsafe to do the process from an older threat that was already on your computer.

FOOL PROOF!! The system restore is the best method I have found. It hit me on 9/23/09 around 15:00 and I had it taken care of within an hr. I have Windows Vista. Boot your computer up like you always do and go to “computer” or “my computer” then to “system properties” at top of window. Select “system protection” tab. You can either choose a restore point that is available prior to the virus or create one that was before the virus. I suggest creating one that is a day or two prior to the incident. Then click “system restore” and follow prompts and allow the system to completely revamp itself. Hope it helps, worked for me. Thanks for all the help with previous posts.

Drag the Total Security2009 desktop display off to the side. Go to My Computer,Documents & Settings, Owners profile folder. Look for Total Security 2009 folder. Check the properties on the shortcut it will link to a numbered folder in the documents & settings all users folder. Delete both folders. Power off! When you boot again control should be restored. I suggest Avast free home edition and Malwarebytes to clean any other infected files. Best of luck, took me six hours to figure this one out!

I tried every other advised process on here like the system restore. Wouldn’t even give me a restore date. So I just followed those steps got my task manager up FINALLY and was able to stop total security blocking me for a bit. Now I am running a full scan of my harddrive with my trusty anti-malware and I think that will clear me all up. Thank you so much again!!!

Thanks for this advice! Corey’s method worked for us. We had to reboot several times before we could get to task manager then just started deleting .exe files (for example cjlk.exe) We didn’t have numbers at all. One of the ones we deleted stopped it until we could run Malwarebytes which found all the infected files. We found advice elsewhere that said not to “contain” the files but to delete them entirely. To be on the safe side, we are running Avira Antivirus and then going to find a restore point.
The advice in this column was very helpful. We kept trying all the methods over and over until one worked.

If you can’t get taskmgr to run a way to temporarily disable it is to go to
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
there will be a director that is an 8 digit number.
Rename this directory (right click, rename)
Rename the files (xxxxxxxx.exe) to something else.
MOVE the files to somewhere else.
When you reboot – the evil thing can’t find it’s main executable… So you can start scrubbing.

Unfortunately – it seems to have some hooks into IE scheduler – so it will reload itself every few days if you don’t get it all. I got 4 different versions of it before I (hopefully) killed it for good.

This mal-ware is like HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey… You bring up taskmgr and it says “Dave, I can’t let you do that” and kills the taskmgr process. Same with every other executable except IE.

I did what you said and was succesful to remove Total Security completely. Thanks for your excellent step by step instructions. Toal Security had frustrated me for 3 days, they are like terrorist instigating terrible fears in us, completely false and trying to let you buy their nonsense for $ 59.90! It’s criminal!
    Thanks Maywand.
