Re: AntiSpyCheck. I think I’m up that certain creek without a paddle. Somehow got that ASC cap on my pc – now having to use my daughter’s pc coz the damn thing keeps turning my computer off. It won’t let me go to any other programme at all!!! Can’t access ‘Add or Remove Programs’, virus scan or the internet. Everything I try to do it just restarts my computer. Please HELP. I’m totally lost and panic-stricken! Lyn

Was attacked by this program last night. Rebooted while pressing F8 and did a restore of the system.

Folks, this is n easy one to eliminate from your PC. A system restoral is not required. Ad-Aware 2008 will remove it under Safe Mode.

If the system reboots while Ad-Aware is running..then you will have to manually remove some of the files. Removal of AntiSpyCheck using control panel (Add/Rem Programs) will not be enough to eliminate the memory resident portion of this stinkin’ Trojan. Also, do not click on the flashing icon (that resembles the Microsoft security shield). Reboot under safe mode…if you are prompted to “Stop loading of sptd.sys by hitting ESC”…then hit escape to stop the loading. If you stop the loading in time..then the memory resident portion of ASC will not load. Now open a Command window (Run->cmd), delete the manual files (some of these may not be present on you PC). When you reboot in safe mode and stop the sptd.sys process from loading…after windows starts, you should not see the flashing “fake” shield icon now. Run Ad-Aware 2008 and it should now detect the trojan and it’s associated files. Remove it and you should be virus free.

So who creates crap line Antispycheck?

It would be nice if their names and addresses could be published so people could let them know how they feel about what they are doing.

Hello, I was infected two days ago. A friend showed me a few things that have been able to reduce the effects of this Anti Spy Check virus/Spyware thing. But not stop it. I tried to do it manually, but when I try to delete anything, a message pops up saying that my access is denied. May I get some help please?

Hi, I have had this crap for a few days now and have managed to remove most of it I think except it’s still putting the shield in the system tray near the clock and still tries to pop up the fake warnings every few minutes, I tried to search for sptd.sys both in safe mode and in cmd promt lines and it’s not there. I think what I did was deleted the DLLs without unregistering them 1st, can someone please help me get rid of this it’s very annoying. Thanks

I’ve been fighting AntiSpyCheck for five days. Just when I thought all was clean, the trojan and AntiSpyCheck files reappeared when I ran Spy Hunter 3. This was after two days of clean scans.

Three days ago, SpyHunter removed the memory resident .dll after three boots in Safe mode and was appearing to be clean for two days. The flashing fake security warning ended when SpyHunter removed that memory resident .dll.

I have manually checked the registry looking for anything in blogs I have read and what Norton’s web site recommended and found nothing. By the way, Norton’s 360 never even knew that this was in my pc. I knew the fake security warning meant my pc was infected with something trying to get information on a fake website.

Last night, SpyHUnter found more files and removed. I’m still trying to find the one that keeps replicating and coming back.

all… make sure you turn off your system restore before trying to clean this off… the file may be stored in there… right click my computer, properties, system restore, check the box for “turn off”, reboot in safe mode, and clean clean and clean again, then if all seems clear, turn restore back on… has worked for me before
