Thank you. This was annoying.
i fell prey to this exact thing. i fell for it. could you tell me the phone number so i can have a friendly word with this company. any help would be appreciated.
Hello,
I have purchased the AntiSpyware Master software and downloaded it on the computer but everytime I try to use it it asks me to register. When I click register, it just doesnt go anywhere.
Help Please.
I’m running on XP.
Somehow I got hit by what was apparently a slew of viruses or spyware just last night, that didn’t show themselves until I turned the computer on this morning.
I am my own administrator on this computer and this connection, but whenever I try to open the Task Manager, it displays a quit message saying that it was canceled by my administrator. This obviously cannot be.
In HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\, there is no file that is named either AntiSpywareMaster or Windows (though I did install the free version of it, knowing it was fake, to see what would happen), so I cannot remove anything that way. As I previously said, I can’t end any processes because the Task manager will not come up.
Using search I came up with a number of AntiSpywareMaster files, including a folder in my C:\Program Files and many files in my C:\Documents and Settings. I will attempt to delete them.
Something I don’t understand is why doesn’t SpyHunter allow you to remove files it found to be viruses or other sorts of malicious programs unless you dish out $$ to get a full version? Just finding them doesn’t help at all unless I have a way to delete them.
I too fell victim when “your files are being copied” kept popping up. Then came a popup with MSN at the top offering remedy. I clicked on it and got a free scan showing 13 virus. I clicked on and purchased AntiSpywareMaster for $49.99. I couldn’t get it to download. The next day I found that my credit card was billed $115 plus $3.44 for a foreign transaction. I’m disputing the charges. Their phone support is 1 800 430 8969, but don’t enter an order number or you’ll be on hold and they won’t answer.
You guys are not alone. I also got tricked into buying AntiSpywareMaster.
McAfee AntiVirus detected Trojans on my computer at my dad’s apartment. Then the AntiSpywareMaster program appeared and said that I have a lot of Trojans, as well as other stuff, on the computer and that if I wish to clean up the mess, I have to purchase the product. So I purchased this program. The program seemed to work successfully after purchase. Then I went to my Thursday night event. After I came home to my mom’s house, I did some more research of that program on GOOGLE and I found out that that program was a fake, and that I had wasted money on a fake program.
On the bright side, I was able to completely remove the program (and most of the other unnecessary programs) from the computer by using the traditional search (by using “search” or looking in folder after folder) and delete method (it did not show up on Add/Remove Programs). I also was able to remove another fake program, Advanced Cleaner, from the computer, this time using Add/Remove Programs. I used the “Date Created” as a guide, because I know the exact date the computer started having problems, and I was pretty much able to fix the bigger problems on the computer (the Internet use is still a bit iffy).
The reason you (and I) got charged $115 is the you also purchased NetTurboPro ($39.95) and Premium Help ($24.95) as well as the program itself, note the check boxes below the “Secure Payment” button. If you add up $49.95 for the main program, $39.95 for NetTurboPro and $24.95 for Premium Help, you will get $114.85 as the total price.
When it comes to removing such programs, if all else fails, be traditional and search through each and every folder and file on the computer manually, and delete anything that does not look right or is unnecessary. It helps big time if you can remember the date that the program appeared so the search can go faster. I recommend against downloading SpyHunter or programs that seek out spy ware, since I cannot guarantee it. Just be patient and search through each and every folder on the hard drive for any junk.
I will not make that mistake twice and I regret the purchase.
As for the company, the company can do one of four things:
– Quit the business and return the money to the buyers
– Quit the business and donate the money to feed the hungry kids
– Become legitimate and develop programs that will actually help the computer
– Keep what they are doing up and risk getting shut down
My mother was another victime that fell prey to this irritating pop-up spyware. Not knowing any better, she went ahead to purchase the software just to get rid of the irritation.
The price reflected was in SGD but when charged to the credit card, it was in Euros, and yes they also included the NetTurboPro and Premium Support, which my mother didn’t even know she had purchased at additional cost. The total bill came up to SGD160 .
She has not downloaded the fake software as she didn’t know how. We had requested for a refund but the Customer Support Centre told my mum that they can’t refund unless there is a technical issue with the software.
There is supposedly a 30-day money back guarantee on the website but I suppose it doesn’t work when you want to your money back anyway!
I am disputing the charge as this is a total con job!
This program has totally wrecked my computer. It has gone extremely slow, and I cant seem to get it out of my computer. Is’nt there a permanent solution for avoiding these kinds of spywares.
I also purchased spyware and it then added netturbopro and none of it worked. I called for two days with no response.
Hi.
How do I remove you’re program from my computer? I’ve tried it and now I don’t want it.
Y.Chen
Download updates from Microsoft, their malware tool will now recognize and remove this, then update your virus software and scan your computer to get the trojans.
I know its too late for many reading this, but I suggest having two or three browsers such as Motzilla and Netscape as well as IE. Normally you get problems through IE, often this is how down loaders work to keep on downloading Trojans and Viruses to you PC. Remember, never click on pop ups you haven’t initiated yourself without first researching about the subject. Always be suspicious, as they say, trust no-one, you must always be on your guard. Good luck and happy problem free surfing…
I am hit by this same problem but never purchased it because I found this Microsoft info that it is fake. I am still deleting it manually using Microsoft instructions and will not go away. The other one is XP Antivirus 2008. My computer is very slow. Microsoft defender did not detect any spyware. Don’t know why.
I did not want this sypware but could not get out off my computer so I did it on my credit card. My computer no longer works after I ordered this. Please take this charge off my credit card. Order number 6992251
Same thing happened to me, charged me for everything on the site. Phoned no answer, and left 3 emails no answer. How do i get my money back is there an address i can write a letter to?
try microsoft window live onecare (free for 3 months trial for XP) and beta version for vista – work great…
Ha.. I can’t believe how many people fell for this. Actually, I guess I can – there are a lot of people unfamiliar with the dangers of the internet. What I TRULY can’t believe is that people are trying to phone the “company”, or thinking they’ll be “shut down”.
Guess what – an amorphous group of people have taken your credit card number and distributed it around the internet, where anyone who knows where to look for it can find it. If you haven’t cancelled the card you used to buy this “software”, DO IT NOW. This is not a business, calling them is a joke – call your credit card company, dispute the charges, cancel the card, delete the software, and don’t be so stupid as to download software that you didn’t seek out yourself.
i had the same problem too i used SUPERAntispyware master adware se
and hijackthis they corrupted my whole system im trying to track there ip using sniffer pro for incomming traffic
im studying network security
I too am a victim of this. I had Mcaffe antivirus/ Spyware and got really freaked out when it wasn’t picking up the viruses that were “supposedly” on my computer according to Antispyware Master. I paid the money and of course nothing happened.
After calling and emailing them numerous times I too went and did some research on the company and discovered it was a fraud.
I went ahead and called my bank and cancelled my card and filed a claim against the company.
I don’t feel stupid for falling for this, but I am definitely more aware of the types of scams that are out there.
I dont know who this got onto my computer….i really have no idea. but i followed these instructions and now i hope its gone.
viruses suck,,whas the point anyways? im just going to cancel m internet connection. who fucking needs it if there is so much hassle? ill do what i need at the library and keep my compter private and or my own uses. my data belongs to me and no one can touch it while im offline.
Also you might want to add this to the removal instructions.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\AntiSpywareMaster (Key)
Hello!! I have also been victimized by this software!! And it tricked me into paying about 50 dollars of because it had told by that my computer was infect with spyware and that was not true because i use my spyaway program to check and said there was nothing on my computer!! thank god im not the only one! Clearly this was all a terrible scam!! PlEASE PLEASE PLEASE, IF ANY OF YOU OUT THERE IS WILLING TO HELP ME OR US OR POSSIBLY SUE OR TAKE ANY LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THIS SPYWARE PLEASE GLADLY POST A MESSAGE RIGHT HERE!!! I WOULD GLADLY TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THIS SPYWARE RIGHT NOW!!
IF ANY OF YOU OUT THERE ARE WILLING TO BAND TOGETHER WITH ME WE COULD PROBABLY TRACK THIS SPYWARE DOWN AND GET OUR MONEY BACK. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NOT RIGHT SO IF ANYBODY IS WITH THE LAW HERE, PLEASE POST YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION AND TELL US IF ANY POSSIBLE ACTION CAN BE DONE.
It’s nice that Microsoft cares to provide signatures for MS security products to reflect such nasty threats. But in general there are not so many programs able to remove antispyware master – I’d say most products on the market, including brand-names, miss it.
have had the same problem just appeared now i cant delete as it does not come up in add and remove still trying to get rid
Victim and User 1, its not a bludy company, and it sure aint fixing anything. its a scam. it destroys your computer and steals your money.Made by a 21 year old idiot with glasses who can’t make his own money cuz hes good for nuthin
I just cleaned this off a computer and it did not seem to have a watchdog process. I just went into the registry under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
I removed 2 lines
c:\program files\antispywareexpert\asm
c:\program files\antispywaremaster\asm
I then deleted these files using a command prompt but you could probably just used explorer, sometimes explorer is infected though when a command prompt isn’t.
Since no deltree in XP I had to go in and del *.* /s and cd into the subdirectories and then del *.* /s and rd the subs and cd .. and then rd the main directory.
Symantec also shows keys under HKLM\Software\antispywareexpert and HKCU\Software\antispywareexpert that should be deleted.
There is also a quicklaunch somewhere in IE and a desktop shortcut.
I didn’t notice any trojans or anything else on the box I worked on but that doesn’t mean you won’t have one.
Yeah, where is law enforcement on this? These guys have 800#’s and will remove stuff off your credit card if you didn’t want all of the vapor ware products they are scamming people with. I’m assuming they are off shore in a non-friendly country or something.
I didn’t wanted the program i just click a button by accident and now i can’t get rid of it cuz it always tells me to register and buy.
I just got fooled into buying this software as well, I decide to check my bank account on line straight after the purchase and guess what, this company had totally cleaned out all my funds. Actually they even over withdraw by account. I informed the bank however they did not cancel my card, after reading this I will now cancel my credit card. Thanks guys for all you information. This is a great help. This has only just happened to me so now i have to try and fix my computer, STRESS.
June I’m with you 100%. I just got scammed today. I was taken for 115 dollars. I closed my account, because a little further digging revealed others have had their entire accounts drained. What do we do to catch these bastards?
OMFG! I totally fell for this stupid shit too. i can;t belive it!..I called my credit card company & told them what happened. They gave me this # to call (866-905-5125) I canceled & asked for a refund. So hope all goes well. I am so mad at myself for letting this happen!!
never mind all of that $hit. Once you get hit with this virus, its all over. Only sure thing to is do a HD software re-install.
I just got nailed as well! I was able to cancel, but no refund. I had re-install Windows XP for this to go away. Jesus, I wish I had read about this $hit before I bought!
IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET OUR MONEY BACK? WHO DO WE REPORT THEM TO AND HOW DO I CONTACT THEM? I GOT SCAMMED FOR 80 BUCKS AND TO A SINGLE MOM THATS LIK 4 BOXES OF DIAPERS YA KNOW. I AM PISSED OFF! PLEASE HELP
