 I am pretty diligent at home, and I am a technician. A client came into work today with his system, and this annoying false alert.
 
 I tried the fixes that used to work, nada.

 I said screw it, I&#039;ll try the AV I use at home, and trust to protect my servers even.
 
 Avast Home, the free edition. I said yes to schedule a bootscan when done installing. Restarted his system, did the bootscan. Windows is now loaded. It&#039;s gone.

 I knew Avast wouldn&#039;t let me down. I have been using it for years on my own systems.
