  1. Hamilton White says:

This doesn’t work for me. I’m using Vista Basic Home and none of the files or entries show up. No matter what removal and spyware tools I use, the PC-Antispyware popups continue… :-(

  2. Nitish Anand says:

    Hi Hamilton,

    SImple fix is:-

Download Windows Live OneCare Safety Centre and run the 90 days free trial. It will rip-off all the trojan horses and spywares, the inbuilt firwall is good too (if you wanna use it).

    It worked for me.

    Good Luck.
    Nitish Anand.

  3. noah says:

i uninstalled itt but i keep getting the desktop pop-ups and spyhunter costs to much

  4. John P Boggs says:

I ended up with this an had to get Dell to do a dell connect to get it all off my computer at a service cost of $129.00… I have contacted Pc-AntiSpyware many times to get a refund for the program, they just want to trouble shoot the program to see if there is a software problem,, Yeah right……. Live an learn I guess…

  5. Green says:

    it dont work :”(

  6. chezi says:

well i had the same popup problem. constantly showed 4 or 5 different varieties of annoying popups every 15 mins or so and tried to lure me into buying the software but i never did.

well i tried this trick and it has worked so far for me to remove the popup but dont know how long this is going to work for…. fingers crossed

next time when you get the popup simply run the task manager. you will be able to identify a new application running there. simply right click the running application and point to the process. then end that process.

the problem pointed at a strangely name exe file in c:\ProgramData\ranuqofn\nifgpspw.exe

i deleted the folder and blocked its access to internet in my firewall. i found out it was even amongst one of the startup programs so i disabled that aswell.

but im sure theres more to it than just that. well atleast its got the popups stopped for now…

  11. Alyssa says:

No, the correct way is to shut down incorrectly or wait until the computer crashes and when it restarts, choose safe mode and when the computer loades, go to control panel, click on programs and features, go down the list and click Pc Antispyware and uninstall, but if you try to do this when the computer is in a regular mode, it will crash and restart.

  12. Alyssa says:

Read the message by alyssa and you will know the faster easier way (I’m 12 years old and used this method and it worked!) I am not lying.

  17. smashdat says:

  18. Kenz says:

Or you could just do what I did and remove it from program files. It worked fine.

  19. Beth says:

I took Nitish Anand suggestion and downloaded Windows Live OneCare (90 day free trial). IT WORKED!! The bothersome !@#$%^ pop-up is GONE!!! It took a little while (maybe an hour) but WELL WORTH THE TIME SPENT!

  20. GotRidofIt says:

Just went around & around with various solutions and what works is….Back up import docs, & data, Delete the account and set up another one with a different name (instead of gogo use dodo).

  21. Kevin says:

I was finally able to stop the pop-ups from showing up by removing a file labeled braviax.exe. I searched the C: drive for files by this name and removed from my computer and the pop ups have stopped.

  22. Cecilia says:

I went to register after I purchased the software and I was told that the number I have to register with is incorrect. Wat is that all about? Now I read this site where it says that PC antispyware is no good. omg…so I guess I got conned didn’t I? I’m worried about my personal information. Anyone know where I can go from here to protect myself?

  23. Tony says:

YEAH!!!!! Successfully removed PC antispyware 2010!!!!! <>

I downloaded Norton Antivirus 2010, Avira and Malwarebytes – only Malwarebytes can clean up everything! Spread the words~~~

  24. Connie says:

the best way is to go into safe mode..go to repair computer..and then do a restore..it will by pass all the other programs.. I tryied the other way and it kept crashing and sening all kinds of funny (will you know) stuff..the only way I could get it off was to do it that way..I deleted all the files and they kept coming back the sec I restarted the computer..safe mode is the only way to get it off and restore..make sure you go back a week or so..I did not I just went two days back..and guess what the darn thing came back after the restart…I use vista…hope this helps..
    hugs

    its started with me!
i got really scared as well!

    wish me luck!

  29. Erica Houghton says:

Hi, Thank you for the information. this virus has attacked my PC twice in as many days. I am ‘technologically challenged’ for lack of a better phrase, so I assumed that I needed to reinstall windows to get rid of this virus. Next time it attacks I will try the above to get rid. Thanks.

  30. redzone says:

my elderly mother somehow managed to get this annoying trojan on her pc!!
it wouldn’t let me download malwarebytes so the simplest way i found to get rid of it was to
start the machine in safe mode & use the system restore facility.
problem solved with a minimum of effort :D

  31. James says:

I tried downloading the spyware doctor and yes it does give you a free scan but does not remove the threats or infections until you purchase, so pretty much the same bulls**t as pc antispyware!

Searched for the bravia thing and got nothing!

Will give the windows onecare thing a go now and see what happens, hopefully it’ll do the trick!

  32. Atina says:

I have tried everything I can think of and I still have this XP anti-spyware on my computer…help.. is what I need… lots of help!!

  33. Rick says:

Malwarebytes has been very affective for us. We have 5 computers running in our home network. Using an uninfected computer with a CD burner, download malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org and execute file. Burn the entire newly created malwarebytes folder to CD and run on infected computer from CD.

  34. Alex says:

Piece of malarkey some how found its way here on my computer.

Trying Most recent system Restore using safe mode.

We will see how it goes :)

  35. rob says:

i actually cannot go online because of the antispyware this, i’m on my sisters’ laptop now, i need to get rid of it, does anyone know how without going online, because i obviously can’t get online to download spydoctor etc. thanks :)

  36. C says:

This worked perfectly. And mine was simply called av.exe. Thanks for saving me a lot of money, time and headaches!

  37. roy says:

how did you do it ? please let me know :)

  38. Ashley says:

I did a system restore. It is now gone, for good, I hope. I have yet to see any symptoms return, so for those of you who have this problem – just go into safe mode and choose a system restore – restore to a few days before the symptoms appeared and everything will be sorted.

Thanks for the advice guys. This virus was extremely annoying.

  39. Montano says:

You can simply press f5 during the boot of your computer to get to the menu with safe mode. Shutting down your computer incorrectly or trying to make it crash is not the way and will probably cause you more problems in the long run. Please do not give advice when you do not have a clue.

  40. schmoo10 says:

i have tried system restore but when my computer restarts it says my computer cannot be restored to the specific date i have chosen, anyone else have this problem??

  41. mk says:

i got to find the file which was named av.exe and was inside document and settings folder. it also shows up as av.exe in the process tab of task manager. End the process first and then do a “Shift” + “Delete”

  42. Billy says:

Just got it this moring. Wow, what a pain in the ass. Anyways, what I did to remove it was:
    1)Restart my computer.
2)While booting, Rapidly pressed F5 (don’t shut down your computer incorrectly or try to crash it, that’ll cause more problems then it’s worth, and it’s completely unnecessary.)
3)Chose the option “Start windows in safe mode with networking.”
4)Downloaded (In my case, deleted and re-downloaded) Malwarebytes, and renamed the folder to TripleX (Just to be safe incase the virus tried to screw the installation up.)
5)Ran Malwarebytes quick scan. It found the virus fairly quick.
6)Deleted the files that were corrupt and infected.
    7)Restarted my computer normally.

It seems to be clean now. Running more scans with Malwarebytes (From a CD now, just incase), CCleaner, Avast!, and Ad-aware just to be safe.

ALSO, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, TRY TO FIND SOLUTIONS ON A SEPERATE COMPUTER!

    The virus manipulates your searches.

Hope this helps guys. And good luck, this virus is a tricky SOB to get rid of.

  43. François says:

@Billy: Thanks a lot, I had exactly the same problem and your method worked. I previously tried with other spybots without success.

  44. Sapna says:

    Nitishji,

    You are a GOD! 1000 thank you’s!

  45. Shawn says:

    I found it under av.exe.

    Thanks all.

  46. Alex says:

I just downloaded microsoft security essentials, which has replaced Windows OneCare, for free online and it seemed to have cleared the malware.

  47. Keith says:

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. The thing that worked for me was the system restore option… the virus would block everything else.

  48. Bernie says:

Got the 2010 XP spyware bug via facebook message from a friend, have tried to delete registry/dll/processes to no avail. Cannot download any anti-virus stuff from anywhere, so not sure what else to do – help!!! also cannot access my email!!

  49. cherish says:

Thank you so much to the guy/gal who suggested deleting user account to get rid of it….I lost alot of files but then again i didnt know what was infected anyway! Its gone….thanks again!

  50. ss says:

    SAFE mode restore works.

usually for me, restore points get deleted too (yes I keep getting infected with this crap, especially the past few days). I’ve got a dedicated web browsing machine, but it is still a pain in the ass to reinstall XP evertime my machine gets sick. This crap is so rediculous, if I was in charge, the people responsible for all of this crap would be shot.
