I have this virus and cannot launch internet explorer in order to download the software to get ris of it. Please help. System restore does not work. Task manager also not working. tried a command and notebook program which also does not work.

  2. Alex says:

Hello Rebecca, try to click on “Start”, then “Run” and type there “taskmgr” (without commas) and click OK. Post here did you succeed to launch Task Manager

  3. Maximus says:

That would be all fine and dandy if the task manager works with this virus. Which it doesn’t.

  4. Alex says:

Let`s try another workaround. Find the file taskmgr.exe in your C:\Windows\System32 folder, try to rename it to something.exe (for example newtaskmgr.exe) and try to launch it. Post the result here.

  5. Maximus says:

Did you delete my last post? The one where I explained how I fixed it?

  6. Alex says:

Dear Maximus, try to locate taskmgr.exe in your c:\Windows\System32 directory, copy it to the desktop and rename the new file for example newtaskmgr.exe. Try to launch it now. Please post your result here.
