I have followed every step of the instructions and after I have done everything the annoying xp 2010 antivirus icon has disappeared from my computer and I just wanted to say thank you! This was the most useful website I found on dealing with this problem. All the other websites just tells people to download additional anti malware which does not work. Thank you very much for sharing this useful information with the world.

I tried to remove IS2010 with the instructions proposed above. Easily succeeded to stop and delete av.exe (only from \Local Settings\Application Data\av.exe), but found none of the other files on my computer, and found none of the entries in the register.
Now, the virus seems to be gone, but the pc is far from back to normal. E.g. cannot start email anymore, windows asks which application to use to open the .exe.
    What did I do wrong?
    What shall I do now?

Ok I have done this with the registry edit thing. I found the files and it says there is an error deleting them and it won’t do it. Help. This Vista Internet Security is driving me absolutely crazy!
