Believe you me, there is no way to remove Spyshredder from the computer. you have to call a professional from Geek Squad for a computer wizard to do it. I have spent weeks, downloading call kinds of spyware and software, spent hundreds of dollars and they don’t work. So everybody can go to hell.

I have this bleeping spy shredder on my desktop! Not only one yet 3! Looks like I will have to ask an IT professional how to get rid of these things on my desktop! Lord knows where else this stupid thing is, yet I guess I shall find out the hard way! BTW I don’t know computers that well, so I guess the laugh is on me as far as this bleeping spy shredder!

I hope all of You are doing better than I am at this point in time!

    Take care!

    Jill Gates! LMAO!

    Hi All

Just in case no one else has pointed this out, the manual instructions for removal on this page DO work. Just make sure you do not have a connection to the Internet when you do this – or it will come straight back, as I discovered to my detriment.

after trial & error I finally removed spyshredder 2.1 from my pc. even though I had removed it from add remove programs on reboot it still popped up so from the start menu I selected search then all files & folders you will want to preform a full search for the following:
    SpyShredder.exe
    Spyshredder.exe
    Spyshredder.lnk
    Spyshredder.lic
    Spyshredder0.ss
    Spyshredder1.ss
    Spyshredder0.dll
    Spyshredder1.dll
    Spyshredder3.dll
not all of these came up with something at least not on my pc I suggest tryin them all though. once the search is complete I delete everything on the list finally go to the recycle bin & delete everything there reboot & that should do it for you!! shouldnt pop up again. I seen in some forums downloading spy hunter is recommened didnt feel safe doing that so went about it manually the process wasnt very long thanks to cut & paste!!! Good luck all…..

The instructions seem to be confusing to many of you because they are showing the method to do it using another virus – spydawn. Maybe this way would be easier to understand. If not, don’t mess with your registry because you can really screw up your system.
To remove spyshredder do the following.

    1. Open task manager, stop these processes and nothing else. Just highlight it and click the end process button.
    SpyShredder.exe
    avp.exe
    mgrs.exe

    2. Unregister DLL in Windows XP or Vista
Sometimes we need to unregister a dll file to troubleshoot a problem in Windows XP or Vista. Here’s how to do it:
From Start –> Run, type “cmd” then click on Open.
Type “regsvr32 /u filename.dll” where “filename” is the name of the file that you like to unregister. DON’T use the quotation marks. Replace “filename” with spyshredder

    Filename
    regsvr32 /u SpyShredder0.dll
    regsvr32 /u SpyShredder1.dll
    regsvr32 /u SpyShredder3.dll

    3. Use search to find and delete these.
    Spyshredder.exe
    Spyshredder.lnk
    Spyshredder.lic
    Spyshredder0.ss
    Spyshredder1.ss
    Spyshredder0.dll
    Spyshredder1.dll
    Spyshredder3.dll

I want this program removed from my computer within the next couple of hours or I will report this to the authorities. It is 4:00 Central time so you have until 6:00 p.m. central time to remove it.
I don’t appreciate this being put on my computer without my permission.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

please remove this crap as it was installed in my computer without my permission.ayou should use your programming abilities to help make the internet a better place, not doing things like this. No thank you.

You silly people shouldn’t yell at a guy who is trying to help you. You are not on the Spy Shredder site.

I couldn’t find the dlls mentioned, but of course they will change the names of these files in new versions of Spy Shredder to thwart our removal attempts

I searched my hard drive for anything with spyshredder in the name, including hidden and system files. just deleted a file called SPYSHREDDER.exe-bunchofnumbers from my Windows preftech directory. I already emptied the trash and I didn’t check the file size – it could have been a sneaky executable hiding where it thinks people will be afraid to delete things.I’llknow if that did it when I restart. If not I’ll bite hte bullet and upgrade MacAfee or some other reputable anti spyware software.

I did a google search for “virtual shortwave” and was barraged by viruses after clicking on a sight on the first page and then spy-shredder appeared. I have Norton AV and so far it seems to have blocked all the trauma. You may wish to install Norton Av and firewall.

  24. By RPS on May 5, 2008 | Reply

Well I have McAfee full version with firewall, antispyware etc and spy shredder still got onto my system.

  25. By RPS on May 6, 2008 | Reply

OK. Solved the problem. Go to your Restore Command and restore your system to the last stable restore point before the spyware was introduced. Worked like a champ. Go to Windows.com and read more about the Restore command.

Heres a quick easy way to remove it, it worked for me easy.

step 1. reboot your pc into safe mode with command prompt

step 2. once in command prompt type in “CD \”

step 3. next type in “DEL SPY*.* /S /A”

    now reboot and your cleared

I hadn’t had spy-shredder a full week, when my computer had to be reinstalled. I have two problems:
    1. This company doesn’t have a phone # to explain that I want my money back. “30-day Guarantee”
    2. The website accidently charged me twice. What was suppose to be a 34.99 charge, turned into a 72.98 charge. Someone please tell me what to do!

  28. By jas on Jun 17, 2008 | Reply

Ok…this is what worked for me….download a spyware scanner…scan the system…find the registery key locations…disconnet from the internet first…go in and delete the reg key file…then reboot and delete the actual ctf files that are associated with this spyware…reboot with the internet disconnected and scan the system again…this works…you can also boot into dos mode and remove the exe files after killing the reg files…one thing I notes with the version I had a blaster file was added and when I booted into xp black bugs started eating my screen so I have to kill blaster….I did not see any of the common process files listed…I would do reseach and edit the reg only if you know what to do….

Okay. First off, to all the people saying “Please remove this from my computer, or I willc all the authorities”
Stop being ignorant, no-body put this on your computer except for YOURSELF. It was downloaded in some package, rar file, exe, torrent, warez, email, or any other type of file that you may have download 24 hours prior to its existance on your system, there-for it is your, and ONLY your fault. Thats also besides the fact that the “authorities” will laugh at you for wasting their time, and tell you to call tech support from one of your local system companies.
    That being said.

You have many ways to delete this virus, the one being proposed here as one of them. A good one at that, and if you lack the know-how to do such things, then I advise you dont, and actually DO call tech support. HOWEVER, if you do have some computer knowledge, and I suppose you do to have found this page, on this site, ON the internet (which if you wouldnt be surfing you wouldnt have this malicious virus) then you can also follow these instructions.
Its not going to be as point-click friendly as the guide here though, so take that into account.
I too fell victim to this virus, and did not do what was said here to clear my system of it, I did the following. The tech support way.

Get out a pen and paper
download smitfraudfix (im not posting links, just google it. You know how to google right?)
click 3 (clean system) which will allow your system to run ctrl+alt+del again.
You probably know which programs you have, and which you dont, so Im not gonna go into programs, but here is a list of what SHOULD be running (by windows)
    Required programs:
    svchost.exe
    alg.exe (optional)
    spoolsv.exe
    explorer.exe
taskmgr.exe (now that you have it open)
    ctfmon.exe
    lsass.exe
    services.exe
    winlogon.exe
    csrss.exe
    System
    System Idle Process

Leave those alone. All the others like:
    alt.exe.exe
    spyshredder.exe
    neos.exe
    faceback.exe
    and etc..
are all what you should be writing down.
Now that you have them all written down, kill them all, and run a search for each one, deleting any copies and ALL copies that you find on your system.
Then, go to C:/documents and settings/local user/?which ever user your on?/temp and delete all the files, and do the same for temporary internet files.
Then click start, hit “run” and type in REGEDIT
then click find from the edit menu, and search for the first one on your list, after you find all the versions and copies, and have deleted them, click the top of the list again, and do a search for the next one.
    after your finished, restart.

Course, you might think this is a little hard, and not worth your time. Live with the virus, and youll be coming back here in a few days. Trust me. Then again, maybe your sadistic. Who cares.

  30. By Jesse on Sep 1, 2008 | Reply

Ah, and one ESSENTIAL thing I forgot to mention
BEFORE you restart, your going to want to click start again, hit run again, and this time type in MSCONFIG
This brings up a windows configuration tool
Click the startup tab (the last tab) and remove anything thats on your list

  31. By RPS on Oct 21, 2008 | Reply

No need to mess with registries, deleting, etc.

    Just use the RESTORE command.

hey guys the best way i found out to get rid of the annoying virus shredder is to try and remeber when u got the virus then do a system restore to the time when u didnt have it and if u dont know how to do this contact me at:flanigan@hotmail.co.uk and download a software called teamviewr 4.0 it will let me access ur computer and do the system restore for you (note)—> if u find the urge to disconnect me if u think im screwing with ur computer all you have to do to disconnect me by right clicking the icon down the bottom right and click exit or if u think teamviewer is some sort of virus send me an email asking for a video of me showing u how to use it etc…. so plz consider this if u wish to keep ur computer safe
