Vista pretty much took over my computer. I made a copy of all my important files, and handed over my computer to a friend of mine to fix. Hes going to delete the old system, download a new Windows Vista program, and then with it download a really good Anti spyware/adware program. Now, my question is, if he follows this procedure, Vistaantivirus2008 should be gone with the new system, and my computer pretty much with fully new programs should be fine correct? I hope someone can help me out with an answer to these questions soon. Thank you very much

I got this exact virus from a file called UPS_INVOICE.exe, this must be a new version of the virus because it changes it’s file names to something less obvious. Here is what I did to delete it:
Delete Executables:
C:\program files\rhclmdj0e59a\*
C:\windows\system32\lphcgmdj0e59a.exe

Another location could be it maybe hiding in:
C:\Program Files\VAV
Or do a search for Vista Antivirus 2008.Ink to determine its location.
If found then do an internet search on vav.exe for complete removal.

I have done almost everything to get rid of this AV2008.
Its files are hidden everywhere.
In my system 32 directory is a file named
hgGxYOHA.dll
but I can not delete it, when I run a scan on that file it is recognized as a trojan, but it can not be deleted, repaired, moved. Anyone idea?

I’d suggest that subscribers, and those duped or infected get togeather with Microsoft. A two sided approach of copywrite violations and fraud. This
would make people think twice before developing
these scams. Get everyone togeater who has been
affected. Along with Microsoft and stick it to these
guys.

I am not a computer wizard. Can someone help me in plain English and layman terms. I’m an older person on a fixed income and I can’t afford to put out a lot of money to fix this problem. Thank you.

My friends machine did not have an updated anti-virus. I tried downloading an anti-virus from a torrenta nd turns out that software was infected with this Vista-AV shit.
Now we are both techies and we tried dealing with this crap. I did manage to get rid of this crap but in teh process I deleted 2 dll’s that were critical fr windows booting.
@Kris: Its not worth trying to deal with this virus yourself. Get a friend to help you.If thats not possible. Then take a backup of your most essential data and do a fresh installation from scratch.
