I had it on my computer and what it did was to hijack a program and insert itself into it. it used my program “AcereDataSecurityManagement” which was published by “Egis” but when it attached itself to it then it was published by “HiTrust”. It took me a bit to get rid of it because every time I tried to open control panel it would open InternetExplorer and go to their web page. What I did was instead of just trying to open control panel I would right click control panel icon and goto “explore”. Then I went to add/delete programs and looked for anything that was published by “HiTrust” and deleted it. I then had to reinstall the program that they had hijacked.
ie…AcereDataSecurityManagement”
So in short open control panel by right clicking it and then hit “explore” then goto add/delete programs and look for anything published by “HiTrust” and delete it.

I seem to have a different version of the WinDefender malware. My popups occur in the windows explorer windows while clicking through files and the forward/back buttons. The buttons direct me to the WinDefender website. However, I have deleted all the files listed above and i still get the popups. Any tips?

I am a moron and fell into a victim of Win Defender 2009. I have followed all the instructions to delete windefender2009 but nothing could stop it. Getting very frustrated now!
