WinPC Defender Removal info
May 2nd, 2009 | by Alex |WinPC Defender Descriptions:
WinPC Defender, disguises itself as a Windows XP or Vista protection software, but conversely, is a counterfeit anti-spyware software which will screw up your computer just like other rogue antispyware software. Win PC Defender does nothing good but giving you headaches. WinPCDefender is destructive and devastated. Generally, Win PC Defender will advertises itself as a video codec or ActiveX control then installed in your PC without your notice and consent. WinPCDefender will then display annoying and misleading system popups to trick user to buy the paid version of WinPCDefender. Good luck in fighting with Win PC Defender!

Solution:
1. cntrl-alt-delete
2. click on pcdefender.exe
3. rightclick – open filelocation
4. end process pc defender
5. go to file pcdefender.exe and destroy it.
You have to make the program stop running first, before you can throw it away or destroy it. You do not need a virusscan.

Honestly, how can this be legal in any way? I Googled for something I heard on the news, clicked one of the first links and was asked to upgrade Flash. That was the way they got me: a “Flash” upgrade. Seemed safe to me. Wow.
This is one heck of a pain. I think they tweaked it to get around Malbytes’ software, too, as mine won’t run!
I’ve deleted all the registry settings/files on my computer that you listed above. I had another trick that might work (I’ll be restarting my computer in a bit here… again…). After deleting the winpcdefender.exe file in Application Data, I copied internet explorer into the same folder and renamed it winpcdefender.exe. Let’s see what happens

3. Delete the WinPc Defender Installer.

Hi.
Recently i have gotten the winPC defender virus from the network.
I’ve been looking for the removal tools, and i downloaded sdsetup.exe which is provided in the links(I forgot which websites), the program is signatured by PCtools.
After that, i tried to run the program but nothing comes up. So i tried to restart my computer(then the WinPC defender tools show up as usual), and tried to run the program again, and still nothing happens.
And when i tried to connect to the internet again, i can’t get connected(I’m using ADSL connection), I tried using different ID but all cant get me connected(It failed to connect when it says ‘registering your computer on the network’.
And the LAN Status screen which is usually displayed in bottom left corner of the desktop is gone.
I tried open msconfig, stop the services & the autorun but my computer instantly crashed when i clicked on apply.
I restarted it and tried it again using safemode. And the services & startup was finally disabled & i didnt get any more pop up. However, i am still getting the ‘internet explorer couldnt connect to the internet & there’s options to connect/work offline’.
Wouldn’t that mean that the program is still executing in my computer?
Finally i restarted my computer again, and run it again in networking mode(hoping i could connect to the internet). But, unfortunately, the windows wont load up completely in the safe mode with networking(i loaded the windows but only blank screen). I tried to end process the explorer rerun it, but still nothing comes up.
I’ve tried to search the services(it gives me the link to the file used) & deleted the appdrvrem in windows/system & cda….11 in windows/system/driver.
However, everything still the same except that the pop up is gone.
anyone else got the same problem?
please help
thanks

3. find pc defender and remove the check mark.
4. click on the services, check hide all Microsoft services. look for any winpc defender files.click on APLY, then OK and restart. Note this will not remove it but will shut it down. and stop the @#$%*&^ POP UPS.
Windows 2000 users must download msconfig first.

It works. First locate the winpc defender.exe. Then go to your desktop and press 1.alt+Ctrl+Delete
2.Click “Task Manager”
3.Click “winpcdefender.exe”
4.Click “End Process”
the idea is to delete it from your files to stop from bugging you but somehow you can’t delete cause it is used by the windows or the winpcdefender.exe is busy doing something.
5.go to “winpcdefender.exe” file location
6.right click
7.click “delete”
8.you are done.

I was surfing the web and al of a sudden WinPC Antivirus installed itself… I tried to uninstall but found it was not available for uninstall so I googled it and found out it was a virus… I opened task manager while the WinPC window was up (otherwise it did not show up in processes) ended the task which “terminated” the process… then I was able to find the target for the exicutible in Application Data and deleted it… and so I thought all was well. I did not however empty my recycle bin. I was so flustered that I did not think of it. Instead I ran a scan on my computer using my usual AVG just to be safe (AVG was not up to date when I was infected because I did not allow the reboot earlier today so I figured thats how the infection was allowed), a leave my computer to scan and go watch a movie, then I come back two hours later and my computer is definately on but my screen is black… did I just loose my hard drive to this trojan?

when i right click on the .exe there’s no “find location” option, it just says end process and end process tree. i can find the location from the right click and properties but that just takes me to another shortcut that i can’t delete because i can’t find the folder it’s telling me to go to!

Some process tabs in the task manager
DO NOT HAVE PC DEFENDER . in any way shape or form listed AS PC DEFENDER.exe
and therefor cannot be stopped
and then deleted.
IT’S calling itself SOMETHING ELSE! That’s what these people are trying to tell those of you that are helping.
and I don’t know what it is and can’t stop that process. I did click on properties on the shortcut, there is no .exe listed in any of the menus!

Ruuds directions worked for me. However, on my end process, the flippin’ program showed up as WP23AB not WinPC or pcdefender.

I would like to follow the advice from Ruud and others, but how do you stop pc defender, if you can’t open task manager?? It just doesn’t come up when I select it!
Please help!!

Mine shows up in the Task Manager as “WP7ccc.exe”, so I right click the exe file and selected ‘End Process’.
1. Windows PC Defender usually shows up when you go to Windows logo -> All Programs -> right click and select Properties.
1. Look for the location of its directory.
(I found mine at c:\programdata\7ccc47a)
FYI: You won’t find this directory in Windows Explorer even if you set your Folder Options to Show hidden files and folders
2. Restart your computer in safe mode with command prompt.
3. In your command prompt type:
cd\ (press enter key on your keyboard)
cd programdata (press enter key on your keyboard)
rd (type the folder location here) /s /q (press enter key on your keyboard)
exit (press enter key on your keyboard)
4. Restart your computer.

I don’t have the pc defender trojan on mine but on my sister-in-law’s. I am trying to get rid of it for her. My problem is that her computer will not open the task manager. It doesn’t make any difference how you try it still doesn’t. Task bar right click, ctrl-alt-del, nothing, so you can’t see any running processes. So what do I do next?
