September 6th, 2008 | by Alex |

Win Defender Descriptions:

Win Defender, disguises itself as a Windows XP or Vista protection software, but conversely, is a counterfeit anti-spyware software which will screw up your computer just like other rogue antispyware software. It does nothing good but giving you headaches. WinDefender2008 is destructive and devastated. Generally, Win Defender will advertises itself as a video codec or ActiveX control then installed in your PC without your notice and consent. WinDefender2008 will then display annoying and misleading system popups to trick user to buy the paid version of WinDefender2008.

What do you do if you can’t get your desktop back, no Start button, nothing but the “you’ve got infections” dialog … and booting up in Safe Mode results in a blank screen with no Start button, etc.? I can’t take any of the steps you suggest because I can’t get the command line prompt to display … aagh!

Have you tried to bring up the Task Manager via keyboard shortcuts [Ctrl Shift Esc]? From there, you can start a new task. In the Applications tab, there’s a button at the bottm right labelled “New Task” which you can use to start exploere.exe. Or, cmd.exe, as the need arises. That should at least get you to where you need to be… with any luck.

    Hope that helps.
